The Excalibur Reading Program (a 501 ( c ) (3) non for profit) is for all children, especially those of impoverished means, or who have special needs. We work with children who have IEPs and those sent to us by the Department of Education for extra help. Its subsidiary The Unicorn Project-Raven’s Hope was founded to help families in crisis. Since February 2005, our teachers have been conducting workshops, tutoring, reading, writing and math. Our program offers preparation for TACHS, SAT, SHSAT, ACT, GED, Regents Entrance Exams and General Homework help.
MISSION: We offer support to parents of children with special needs and we are proud of our success rate in helping children to achieve their personal and academic goals. We aim to prepare these children for their future, to realize their dreams and assist them in creating attainable professions.
PRIVATE TUTORING: Professional and Student Teachers on board-available daily for Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and all other subjects.
CREATIVE WRITING & BUSINESS: Teaching character bibles, plot and narrative description, research, editing and book formatting—building a network platform i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin
BLOG AND ESSAY WORKSHOPS: Tailored for students reaching goals in TACHS, SAT and GED Preparatory Exams, also including detailed instruction for college entry exams—Businesses invited for networking help.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSES/ CHILDREN’S READERS THEATRE/LITTLE PAGES BOOK CLUB - For the early years of development. Led by a Certified Teacher: Early vocabulary, Listing skills, Writing and Hand to eye motor training, Speech, and reading aloud. Books and plays brought to life in a theatrical manner to help teach children, especially those with special needs, the enjoyment of books in a visual and hands on manner.
TEEN AND YOUNG ADULT WORKSHOPS: Weekly Topics for the youth to talk about any and all issues in their schools, neighborhoods and home environments’, finding solutions and creating friendships.
CHILDREN’S AND ADULT ART CLASSES: Classes geared for all ages who are interested in the arts. Complimentary Colors + Landscape or Still Life painting of student(s) choice (ages 16+) . Primary Colors (ages 8-15)
MENTORING PROGRAMS: The Excalibur Reading Program partners with community organizations, mentoring children who have been through the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and socially challenged youths who have been incarcerated. We work closely with these youths to help find new pathways in education, guiding them, and have mental health professionals to educate and find resources for their future.
